Mike W. Donnell, P.E.

President

Mr. Donnell is a third-generation civil engineer in the Big Horn Basin. George Donnell, his grandfather, started Bell & Donnell with Howard Bell in 1932. Mike has played a substantial role on all major projects with Donnell & Allred, Inc. since moving back to Wyoming from Alaska in 1986. He became President of Donnell & Allred, Inc. in 1995 and has been the City of Worlands engineer since that time. His background at the University of Alaska provides a strong technical expertise in cold weather engineering problems typical in Wyoming such as frost heaving, and how to effectively deal with them. Projects he has designed and supervised include roads and highways, complete water & sewer systems, structural design, dams, irrigation and sanitary landfills.

WEST BROADWAY (HIGHWAY 120) RECONSTRUCTION

Principal in charge of West Broadway (Highway 120) design, west entrance into Thermopolis for WYDOT. This project incorporates a new uniform street section with geotextile separation for long-term stability, a modular retaining wall, underdrain, redesigned storm sewer, compliance with ADA as well as several project enhancements.


bullet WASHAKIE AVE-WILSON DR-23RD STREET RECONSTRUCTION

Design engineer for Washakie Avenue-Wilson Drive-23rd Street urban systems project in Worland. This project corrected a vertical crest sight distance deficiency on Washakie Avenue, realigned two intersections allowing for future extension of 23rd Street north, and included a two-tier Keystone retaining wall and complete storm sewer design, as well as piping and rerouting several drains in the area.


bullet HANOVER IRRIGATION DISTRICT REHABILITATION

Design engineer for $1.2 million Hanover Irrigation District Rehabilitation. This project involved the design of 15 new canal structures including bridges, side channel wasteways, checks, inverted siphons, underpasses, canal realignment and lining, plus structural rehabilitation of numerous reinforced concrete and timber structures. The construction was all accomplished over the winter on an accelerated schedule involving simultaneous construction at multiple locations.


bullet MUNICIPAL ENGINEERING

City Engineer for Worland, including streets and bridges, water supply and distribution, urban planning, wastewater treatment plant, gravity and force main sewer design, engineering assistance for the Mayor and city council as well as city residents.


bullet TEN SLEEP SOLID WASTE DISTRICT

Project engineer for Ten Sleep Solid Waste District and former project engineer for Washakie County Solid Waste Disposal District No. 1 for expansion of landfill boundaries, permitting, Environmental Quality Council hearing. Projects included special wastes design for petroleum-contaminated soil, asbestos disposal, sump and septage disposal and bulk metal disposal areas.
